Finding the Right Investments in a Sea of Bad News

by on Sep.23, 2010, under Home

By Dan Ascani

An analyst’s words recently quoted on Bloomberg’s web site rang true. “If the bond market is correct then this recovery could be dead in the water,” he said, referring on June 29 to the plunge in two-year U.S. Treasury Notes to a record low1.

We agree.

The yield on that two-year Treasury issue fell to 0.595% on June 28, the five-year Treasury yield falling to a mere 1.78%.  The slowing economy, flight-to-quality buying during the recent weakness in stocks, and deflation are the known culprits behind such low yields.

Although former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan once referred to low bond yields as a “conundrum,” not much credit has been given to the bond market for being correct about anticipating the global deflation that has occurred since 2007.  Bond traders are commonly thought to be more sophisticated than stock traders, and were right about the current economic environment that rivals any definition of economic depression.

Greenspan was not.

Understanding the Economic Breakdown Yields Options for Successful Investors

Not since 2008 have I been so adamant about encouraging investors and businesses to take immediate action to protect themselves against the severe economic plunge getting underway now. That’s why my April 30 Defending Your Money blog and radio show emphasized the steps investors can take to cushion their portfolios while the stock market declines.

Make no mistake about it: This is no recession.  It’s no recovery. It’s the most serious economic downturn since the 1930s.

With stocks reeling once again after their worst quarter since the spring of 2009, a close look at the technical and fundamental reasons for such weakness helps to understand how to build wealth during such tough times.  By recognizing which investments tend to do well during stock market routes powered by global deflation, investors, consumers, and businesses alike can improve their odds of preserving – even building –wealth.

So, what are the fundamental and technical reasons for the most recent breakdown in stocks?  At the risk of oversimplifying the situation, here are some bullet point reasons behind the collapse:

Music is a gift whose value is magnified most in the giving. Musicians share their talents with us, and in passing them on, create something larger that brings people together in a way nothing else has the power to do.

In 1989, The Recording Academy® established MusiCares® to sustain music and its makers — as a force in all of our lives.

Our Guest

Harold Owens

Senior Director

MusiCares/MAP Foundation

Mr. Owens has specialized in the Entertainment, Legal and Medical communities in the field of addiction recovery for the past 20 years. Mr. Owens from 1993 to 1999 was the Program Director of the Exodus Treatment Center and has served as a consultant for the State of California’s Impaired Physicians Program, implementing substance abuse treatment strategies for physicians who were either mandated to or volunteered to undergo substance abuse treatment.  Mr. Owens also served as a consultant to the governments of Thailand and the Federated States of Micronesia where he was a participant in a program, funded by the World Health Organization, to compare models of substance abuse treatment utilized by foreign governments.

In 1999, Harold was hired by the MusiCares Foundation, the charity arm of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (GRAMMY Organization) As the Senior Director of the MusiCares/MAP Fund, he is responsible for the implementation of all aspects of its addiction recovery program, including treatment services, case management and provider contracts.  He is also a frequent moderator and panelist at a number of music industry conferences that address the problems of addiction in the music and entertainment industries.

In  October 2001 and again in 2006,  Harold received Official Certificates of Commendation from Mayors’ James Hahn and Antonio Villaraigosa for Outstanding  Service in the field of Addiction Recovery.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA., Harold is a 1974 graduate of Rutgers University, where he received his B.A. English, and in 1988 he completed the UCLA Alcohol & Drug Abuse Studies Program.

In recognition of September being National Recovery Month, MusiCares has launched new online resources to continue our commitment to educate the music community about substance abuse issues. Please take a moment to explore the new offerings. While MusiCares works in confidentiality with clients, the artists and managers who appear here feel so strongly about our programs and services that they wanted to speak publicly about our Foundation.

In addition, we’ve added a special performance clip that features Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney with Metallica’s James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo performing “Them Bones” at the 2006 MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert.

Over the years, the music industry has evolved into an amazing worldwide network of individuals and multinational conglomerates grossing over $50 billion a year. Yet, disturbingly, the very people whose creativity and ingenuity fuel this massive cash machine have few places to turn in troubled times. The tragic health and financial hardships faced by too many members of our musical family prompted the Recording Academy’s establishment of the MusiCares® Foundation in 1989.

It is the mission of MusiCares to ensure that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical or personal crisis. Its primary purpose is to focus the attention and resources of the music industry on human services issues that directly impact the health and welfare of music people.

Arthritis Foundation

by on Sep.14, 2010, under Home

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Aug 10, 2010 – Finally there is an all natural way to effectively relief pain of symptoms of arthritis, joint pain and muscle pain. Panitrol is a new joint and muscle pain relief breakthrough. The combination of all natural herbs in Panitrol helps block the transmission of pain signals. They work synergistically to reduce swelling of joints, inflammation and effectively block chronic pain receptors in the brain without disrupting the pain signals that warn you that a new injury has occurred.

Panitrol is an effective all natural joint and muscle pain relief alternative to dangerous, prescription pain killers.

A message from a Panitrol user:

I have been active in sports and fitness my entire life, and still at age 53 I was jogging, working out and playing competitive racquetball 2 to 3 hours a night several nights a week.

This all came to a halt seven years ago when an auto accident left me with 7 herniated discs… four in my neck and three in my lower back with a tear in the center of one of them.
I had $93,000 of medical bills with top neurosurgeons, pain specialists, physical therapy, epidurals, etc. After all of that… I couldn’t even walk or stand without excruciating pain shooting through my buttocks and down my legs.

There were times I had to crawl to the bathroom. Pain in my shoulders and hands sometimes kept me from falling asleep until the sun came up. The pain was 24/7. This affected my work and every part of my life. For more than 15 years I’ve loved playing guitar with my son… it broke my heart when I had to tell him “I’m sorry I can’t play because I have too much pain in my hands”. I couldn’t wash dishes or use the vacuum. It hurt to bend over and tie my shoes. It was painful to raise my arms over my head. As a result of inactivity I also gained over 50 lbs.

When I first heard about Panitrol I was skeptical but, I felt I had nothing to lose by trying it.

On my fifth day I was walking without pain. Within a few weeks I was able to jog and play golf without pain and even get back on the racquetball court. Pain and stiffness are also gone in my neck and shoulders. I’m also losing weight because I’m active again.
Now I’m Pain Free and Panitrol has given me a new lease on life! I’m telling everyone I know about Panitrol. I figure about a million people need this product.

Mike Kovach

Finally there is an all natural way to effectively stop arthritis pain, joint pain and muscle pain. Panitrol is totally safe with no known side effects or drug interactions.

One of the active ingredients Panitrol uses in one of their products is 700 Mg of MSM, methylsulfonylmethane (METH-əl-sul-FON-il-METH-ane) which provides sulfur, a vital building block of joints, cartilage, skin, hair and nails, and methyl groups, which support many vital biochemical processes in the body, including energy production. MSM is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in small amounts of many foods. As a dietary supplement, MSM is synthesized of course along with the other active ingredients makes our pain reliever so special.

Panitrol is proud to be a part of the Arthritis Foundation which is a charitable foundation dedicated to the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases. Panitrol is donating a portion of the their proceeds  to the Arthritis Foundation to help aid in their mission.
